Project Description

This project aims to develop new methods for processing high-bandwidth brain signals recorded using Utah Arrays with over 1000 channels. The traditional data processing approaches are not suitable for this amount of data, so the project requires a new approach.

The project has three main objectives:

  • Design low-cost and reliable deep learning architectures for real-time spike sorting directly on the implant chip.
  • Develop an on-chip processor to be integrated with the sensing module for real-time decoding of brain activity from different brain regions.
  • Validate the developed algorithms using simulations and real-life test data.

PhD Studentship UK Funding

The studentship is funded and open to UK, EU, and international students. Funding will be awarded on a rolling basis, so applying early is recommended.
